The Central Valley in Costa Rica is the most popular area to live or retire, for both high class local and foreign residents. In this location there is access and proximity to the best services such as restaurants, shopping centers, hospitals, spas, etc. The western area of San Jose Costa Rica has become the favorite for high class locals and foreigners. This area has the best climate, the best shopping centers, such as Multiplaza, and the best health care facility, such as Hospital Cima. The western area also has close proximity to the airport, and is the gateway to the beautiful beaches of the Pacific region. For these reasons we recommend the west area of San José for residence in Costa Rica, mostly for people planning to buy retirement homes in Costa Rica.
Within the west end, we recommend La Guacima, Escazu, Santa Ana and Belen. In these areas you can find considerable listings of homes for rent. These include homes located within gated or golf communities.
Also we recommend homes located in the Alajuela area. In the last years, the city of Alajuela has had an enormous growth in the real estate market. This has been due to many reasons such as new commercial developments with companies like Price Smart, new shopping malls and other commercial activities. Alajuela is the largest city and the one with the best climate in Costa Rica’s central valley.
You can find homes for rent from about US$ 1,000 up to US$ 10,000 or more. Listings include home sites with views, which tend to be in the higher range of Costa Rica home site prices.
